Nursing theory plays a crucial role in leading nursing research, education, and practice. Therefore, scholars must develop criteria for analyzing and evaluating nursing theory. Rosabeth Moss Kanter is a theorist on structural power in organizations with sociological backgrounds. Her theory was applicable to economic challenges and social movements in the United States during the 20th century. This study evaluates and critiques the theory of structural power in organizations. This study used the McEwen and Wills synthesis method of theory evaluation. The theory of structural power in an organization has implications for nursing in terms of education, management, and practice. The literature indicates that researchers can use this theory as a framework to approach various types of nursing studies.
